Public Arts Committee

Purpose and Mission: The Public Arts Committee is an advisory body of the City of Irvine, reporting to the Community Services Commission, providing input on needs of the community pertaining to arts and cultural programming. The Committee’s mission is to develop a comprehensive Public Arts Master Plan providing a roadmap for the advancement of arts over the next ten years.

The Committee also serves as a recommending committee to the Community Services Commission per the Public Arts Program Policy on matters pertaining to evaluation of solicited and unsolicited Public Art Proposals (permanent or temporary murals, sculptures, statue, structures, or installations intended for outdoor public display). Additionally, the Committee advises on placement, accessioning and deaccessioning, destruction, and alterations of proposed public art.

The Committee is comprised of five (5) voting members appointed by each of the City Council members, including the Mayor.
