Irvine Police Department
The Irvine Police Department (IPD) is a professional, values-based organization where community oriented policing is a way of life. Orange County Fire Authority
The City contracts with the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) to provide fire protection and emergency services in the community. OCFA is a regional fire service agency that serves 23 Orange County cities and all unincorporated areas and protects over 1.6 million residents from its 71 fire stations located throughout the county.
Irvine's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program designed to prepare citizens to help themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Because professional emergency service personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, CERT training can make a difference in saving lives and protecting property in our community. The training includes the basic skills important in disaster response, such as disaster medical operations, fire suppression, and light search and rescue. The Irvine Disaster Emergency Communications (IDEC) is an organized team of over 60 experienced, trained and dedicated amateur radio operators (Hams). Members routinely volunteer their time and extensive radio communication skills to augment normal methods of communications used by the Irvine Police Department in times of emergencies or major disasters. As a vital part of the Irvine Police Department, IDEC is a valuable component of the City’s Emergency Preparedness Plan. For more information visit the IDEC website http://www.n6ipd.org.
Volunteer opportunities are available through the Trauma Intervention Program, which provides emotional and practical support to victims of traumatic events.
