The Irvine Fine Arts Center’s Ceramics Studio is a popular place to take classes and specialized seasonal workshops all throughout the year. Our studio is also a great place to work independently on projects while meeting other clay-enthusiasts during our weekly scheduled Open Studio sessions.
The studio is fully equipped with three large gas kilns firing at Cone 10 and two low-fire electric kilns which fire at 06. The studio also is home to a Raku kiln which is available to use during classes and Special Request Workshops alongside our Studio Technician. Over a dozen wheels line the perimeter of the studio along with two slab rollers, and a spray booth. Studio technicians maintain scheduled bisque and glaze firings which are included in course/workshop registration and Open Studio pass fees. In addition, assorted glazes are provided in our glaze room and stoneware clay is always available for purchase.
Our instructors are all professional ceramic artists/educators who share diverse experience and techniques in the area of ceramic art and sculpture. Classes in the studio are offered quarterly throughout the year and are structured for beginning through advanced level participants in the areas of wheel-throwing, hand building and sculpture. Seasonal and specialized technique workshops are also offered throughout the year.
The Ceramics Studio is equipped with wheels, kilns, slab roller, damp room and a complete glaze room. Regular firings are scheduled by technicians. Stoneware clay is available for purchase. Closed-toe shoes required. Open Studio Passes are available for purchase at the Fine Arts Center.
