Strategic Plan for Children, Youth and Families



The City of Irvine strives to create a safe community where children, youth and families thrive emotionally, physically, academically and socially.

The Irvine Children, Youth and Family Advisory Committee meets quarterly to review and evaluate the City of Irvine's Strategic Plan for Children, Youth and Families. For more information about the Committee and meetings, please click here.  

The Strategic Plan for Children, Youth and Families Update 2013-18 outlines goals for the following five (5) priority areas:

Goal Area 1
Support to Families in Need Scholarships, FOR Families, iCHP, Cal Optima, Youth Employment Services, Mobile Recreation Program, Dollarwise Program, Earned Income Tax Credit Program, Food Drive, Affordable Care Act Information
Goal Area 2
Pre-Kindergarten Child Care and School Readiness

Child Care Coordination Office, Irvine Unified School District (IUSD), IUSD School Readiness, City of Irvine-Early Childhood Programs

Goal Area 3
Youth Alcohol, Substance Use and Other Risky Behavior Reduction

High School Youth Action Team-HSYAT, Irvine Prevention Coalition-IPC, Irvine Police Department, Irvine Family Resource Center, Substance Use Prevention-Juvenile Resources, School Resource Officers, D.A.R.E., Middle School Program

Youth Volunteerism

Health, Fitness and Well-being
