This Public Works Division plans, funds and advances the development and maintenance of an integrated and high quality transportation system consistent with City policies and priorities using maximum outside revenues. This Division operates the Irvine Station. High speed rail, alternative fueled vehicles, shuttle systems are examples of various alternatives being studied in the area of advanced transportation concepts. This Public Works Division administers the design, construction, and inspection of publicly funded facilities and infrastructure. Closing The Public Works Department makes sure that what we plant looks green and healthy; what you drive, walk and bike on is safe and clean; and what we build (from storm drains to streets) is solid and secure. We also plan for future transportation needs and find non-city funds to meet those needs.
