Public Safety Assistant Nikki Varner Named Employee of the Quarter
On Tuesday, July 17, 2012, Public Safety Assistant Nikki Varner received the Employee of the Quarter award during a luncheon held at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. Chief Maggard, Lieutenant Allan and many of Nikki’s family, friends and co-workers were all there to congratulate her for her outstanding work in the Office of Professional Development (OPD) where she has been assigned since 2007.
The Employee of the Quarter Award is given based on nominations from the recipient’s peers and supervisors. Nikki was nominated by several people for both her quality and quantity of work. Nikki’s current assignment in OPD encompasses the majority of the administrative tasks related to training including the tracking and certification of all training through the Peace Officers Standards and Training. She is responsible for a multitude of record keeping systems and databases and is the point of contact, coordinating classrooms, instructors and students for the many classes hosted by the Irvine Police Department. One member of the OPD unit commented on how everything Nikki does has some effect on the work everyone else in the unit does.
In recent months, in addition to her regular duties, Nikki has also taken on several additional tasks due to a number of vacant positions in other units. Nikki has taken this additional work in stride and continues to be positive and helpful to others in the unit.
This awards luncheon was made possible by the generous and continual support of the Irvine Exchange Club.
