Raksah Bandhan Festival Held at Deerfield Community Center

Sunday, August 5, 2012, Commander Aninag and Officer Aragon were invited by the Hindu Service Society to attend a community outreach program in observance of Raksah Bandhan, an annual festival to celebrate the affection and protection between brothers and sisters. Part of this centuries old ceremony involves sisters tying a sacred Rakhi string on their brother’s wrist and a prayer for a long life. This year’s Raksah Bandhan program was entitled “Protection Connection” and was attended by approximately 50 members of the Hindu Service Society. Attendance of the program represents a positive opportunity for the Irvine Police Department to connect with members of the Hindu community.
