Irvine Police Department Participates in 9/11 Observance at Irvine Valley College
On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, Chief Maggard gave a keynote speech during an observance of the 11-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The tragic events of 9/11 resulted in the loss of 2,993 people from 115 different countries. It is a day of special importance and reflection for first responders as 60 members of law enforcement and 343 firefighters and paramedics lost their lives.
During his speech, Chief Maggard also asked the community to remember and support the great work of our local guardians who protect and preserve our way of life. The Irvine Honor Guard was on-hand to present the Nation’s Colors. Other keynote speakers at the event were Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens and Orange County Fire Authority Chief Keith Richter.
