On Saturday, April 27, 2013, the Irvine Police Department participated in National Drug Take-Back day. During this event, two locations were staffed with Irvine Police Officers, Irvine Police Explorers, and personnel from the Drug Enforcement Agency. The collection sites at the Irvine Civic Center and Kaiser Hospital collected a total of over 600 pounds of unwanted medications. Countywide, events collected 6,215 pounds of medications.
