New Officers Sworn In


On Monday, July 15, 2013, Chief Maggard swore in Police Officers Salazar and Crawley during a ceremony held in the Department’s Emergency Operations Center. Family members, friends and Department personnel were in attendance to welcome the new officers who graduated from the 205th class of the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy last week.

Officer Salazar joins Irvine after working for Target Corporation for eight years.  During his time there, he served as a Team Member, Target Protection Specialist, Assets Protection Specialist, Team Leader and an Executive Team Leader in Assets Protection.  In 2012, he was recognized by Target Corporation for having the least amount of shortage and for saving the Foothill Ranch store approximately $96,000 in inventory shortages. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from California
State University, Fresno in 2009.

Officer Crawley was a manager with the Frito Lay Corporation and also volunteered with Saint Vincent de Paul Village on weekends to prepare and serve meals to the homeless.  Officer Crawley graduated from Orange Coast Community College with an Associate’s degree in Business and from California State University, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
