Warm Weather Pet Safety Tips - Vehicle Temperature

5/14/2014

As temperatures outside rise, the inside temperature of a vehicle can heat up quickly. Although dark colored vehicles absorb heat much faster, all vehicles get hot inside quickly in warm temperatures, even with the windows slightly down. Please remember to not leave your pets inside your vehicle even for “just a minute” while you run an errand.

The inside temperature of the vehicle climbs quickly and is too hot for anyone, especially for pets. Pets have a limited abili
ty to cool down their body temperature and their recovery time takes longer than ours.

If your pet is overcome by heat exhaustion, immediately soak them down with water and consider taking them to a veterinarian for further evaluation.
