Found Dogs

Help, I found a lost dog!

VIEW DOGS REPORTED MISSING

If the animal appears sick, injured, and/or poses a safety concern for you and your family, please contact Irvine Police Department Dispatch (Calls for Service) immediately at 949-724-7200.

Please realize a healthy stray animal has, in many cases, been lost and is not abandoned. They may have just gotten out accidentally. Most lost pets stay near their home. If you are able to keep the animal for a few hours while searching for their family, this saves them what can be a stressful trip to the shelter. Certainly, if you feel the pet is healthy but you need assistance, call or email the Irvine Animal Care Center by phone at 949-724-7740 or at animalcare@cityofirvine.org.

Here’s how you can help reunite the animal with their family:

  1. Check for an ID tag. See if the animal is wearing a collar with the owner’s phone number.
  2. View dogs reported missing in the City of Irvine or fill out a Found Pet Notice.
  3. Report the lost pet on Nextdoor, through PawBoost.com, or on the Lost & Found section of craigslist.com.
  4. Create a flier and post it in your neighborhood, at your local coffee shop, or the local pet store.
  5. Check for a microchip. If the pet is not wearing an ID tag, you can take them to the shelter or your local veterinary office to have them scanned for a microchip.
