Resident Appreciation

The City of Irvine provides opportunities for residents to recognize friends and family through placement of plaques on seating and bench areas throughout Colonel Bill Barber Park. Additional opportunities exist at the Irvine Animal Care Center, Senior Centers or other locations and trails within the City.

Resident Appreciation Plaques at Col. Bill Barber Park

Those residents not qualifying for the Wall of Recognition or Military Memorial may be recognized, upon request, through plaques that acknowledge, e.g., deceased family members, graduations, career promotion, special birthdays and anniversaries.

1. Requests for Resident Appreciation plaques on the seating and bench areas shall be submitted to the City of Irvine Community Services Department by downloading and filling out the information and application brochure which shall include the proposed honoree’s name and reason for the recognition.

2. Nominations may be submitted by, but are not limited to, the proposed honoree, the honoree’s family member, a member of the Irvine community, a local official, or someone from a non-profit organization or business with which the proposed honoree is affiliated.

3. Nominees are now or have been an Irvine resident. A resident is defined as an individual who has lived, been employed or been a student of a school within the City of Irvine.

4. Nominees meeting the criteria will be recognized with placement of a permanent standardized 3” x 6” plaque that includes honoree name, achievement (or reason for recognition) and date of recognition. Costs for purchase, placement and maintenance of the plaque will be paid by the nominator or honoree, based upon agreement prior to the plaque’s placement on seating or bench areas.
