IRVINE, CA (March 24, 2014) – Mayor Steven S. Choi, Ph.D. announced today that the City of Irvine has joined the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation from April 1-30. Irvine residents and businesses are encouraged to join this friendly, national competition by pledging to conserve water and other resources online at mywaterpledge.com.
“The City of Irvine is committed to conserving natural resources and saving our residents money,” said Mayor Choi. “As we head into a third year of extreme drought, this challenge gives us an opportunity to keep our conservation efforts up and keep our water use down.”
One winning city will be determined from five population categories. The City with the most pledges in each population category will win. Residents from the winning cities who take the online pledge will be entered to win hundreds of environmentally friendly prizes, including a Toyota Prius, water-saving fixtures and home improvement gift cards.
