Irvine Police Personnel Attend CHP Officer Youngstrom Funeral


On Thursday, September 13, 2012, the Irvine Police Department Honor Guard sent representatives to Vacaville where they attended the funeral of California Highway Patrol Officer Kenyon Youngstrom.


Officer Youngstrom was shot and killed by a suspect on September 4, 2012 during a traffic stop for an obscured license plate.  The memorial service for Officer Youngstrom was attended by several thousand mourners including officers from across the nation, as well as Governor Brown.  Officer Youngstrom was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the California Highway Patrol for seven years. He is survived by his wife, four children, mother and five siblings.


The California Highway Patrol has established a memorial fund to support Youngstrom's family. The fund is available through Wells Fargo and donations to the Officer Kenyon Youngstrom Memorial can be made at any Wells Fargo branch.


Attending the funeral were Sergeant Wyatt and Officers Ryan, Hillyard and Hudson.
