First Annual “Don’t Trick We’ll Treat”

On Wednesday, October 31, 2012, the Irvine Police Department held its first annual “Don’t Trick We’ll Treat” event.  The event provided an opportunity for officers, employees and Police Explorers to interact with Irvine residents and share a positive experience with the community. The teams traveled to multiple neighborhoods throughout the community and handed out treats and stickers to the kids as they were out trick-or-treating.

Participating in the event were Chief Maggard, Deputy Chief Hamel, Detective Sergeant Scherer, Officer Frei, Detective B. Smith, Reserve Officer Assayag, Civilian Traffic Investigator Villelli, Public Safety Assistant Beard and Police Explorers Serna, Yue, Duginger, Liu and Clarke.  DARE Officer D'Alena and Public Safety Assistant Lovenduski also participated by passing out treats at a local shopping center where kids and families were already trick-or-treating.

One Irvine resident was overheard saying “I’ve lived here over 27 years and this is a first I have ever seen this! What a great thing for the kids. This is awesome!”
