Reporter Michele Gile Receives the Irvine Rotary Club Public Safety Partnership Award

On Wednesday, May 1, 2013, the Irvine Rotary Club and the Irvine Police Department presented Michele Gile, a reporter with CBS/KCal9, with the Public Safety Partnership Award at a breakfast held at the Rancho Senior Center.

The quarterly award is given to community members whose actions assist the police in criminal or other public safety issues.  Ms. Gile was given the award for her reporting of a severely impaired driver in February.  She contacted police and provided detailed and accurate information including continual updates as to his location until he could be located and detained by officers. Her efforts and williness to commit time to assist the police was considered extraordinary because that morning, she was extremely busy, working under deadline, covering the murders of Michelle Quan and Keith Lawrence.  She postponed her professional responsibilities, and an exclusive interview, to ensure the police located and detained the suspect who was not only endangering himself, but also a young child he was carrying in the car.

Congratulations and thanks to Michele Gile!
