Irvine Police in Attendance at National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC


This week, the Irvine Police Honor Guard represented the Department at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC. Additional Irvine Police personnel also attended several of the events during National Police Week, May 11 -18. This year, 321 names were read at the candlelight vigil, 120 of whom were lost in 2012. Officers Velarde, Indelicato, McGehee, Ryan, Lipscomb and Hudson attended for the Honor Guard. Additional Department representatives attending this year were, Lieutenant Hallinan, Sergeants Wyatt and Scherer, Supervising Dispatcher Casey Bowden, Officers Mendoza, Do and Jahid and Reserve Officer Ross. In addition to the scheduled Police Memorial events, members of the Honor Guard also had the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.
