Acting Lieutenant McClellan Graduates from the Supervisory Leadership Institute
On Friday, August 9, 2013, Acting Lieutenant McClellan graduated from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI) in Sacramento. Commander Mahoney was on hand to offer his congratulations. Acting Lieutenant McClellan was chosen by his peers as a representative of the class and delivered the class speech during the ceremony.
SLI is an 8-month leadership development program designed to stimulate personal growth, leadership, and ethical decision-making in California law enforcement front-line supervisors. The course is held three days per month over an 8-month period. One of the 3-day sessions was held in Los Angeles where the class toured the Museum of Tolerance and heard an inspirational speech by Dr. Terrence Roberts. Dr. Roberts is one of the nine students famous for their bravery in the 1957 desegregation of Central High School in Little Rock Arkansas.
