Meet Councilmember William Go
District 2
William Go was elected to the Irvine City Council in 2024 as the first Councilmember to represent District 2 and the first Chinese Filipino American to serve on the Council.
William and his family immigrated to the United States when he was a child. Raised alongside his four siblings by their mother, William saw her work tirelessly to provide for their family, instilling in him the values of hard work and perseverance. Born in the Philippines to a mother of Chinese descent, he speaks three languages: English, Tagalog, and Chinese.
William was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration at The Paul Merage School of Business from the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
His professional career began as a software engineer and product manager at Broadcom, where he contributed to global market expansion and developed relationships that launched a successful business career. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to grow a real estate and hospitality portfolio from four locations to over 30 nationwide, revitalizing and expanding the company. William is also a licensed broker with expertise in finance, real estate, and contract negotiation.
William’s service to the City includes leadership roles as a member of the Great Park Development Task Force and the Irvine Transportation Commission. While managing a thriving business, William has also dedicated many years to volunteering with the City’s aquatics programs as a lifeguard, swim coach and instructor. He and his wife, Jennifer, have actively contributed to UC Irvine’s Bike Ambassador program, championing active transportation and sustainable mobility.
An avid cyclist and triathlete, William has completed a Full Ironman 140.6 Triathlon and enjoys swimming, long-distance running, and bicycling. William and Jennifer have lived in Irvine for more than 20 years and cherish their home in the Great Park Neighborhood in District 2, where they are often seen cycling around the neighborhood and attending community events.
