Employee and Labor Relations is a resource to all City of Irvine employees, supervisors and managers. Our goal is to establish, administer and communicate sound policies and practices, develop competitive compensation programs, while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, policies and regulations. Major areas of responsibility include:

Updating Policies and Procedures - Every year we review our policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. The Personnel Rules and Procedures is your resource to understanding the grievance and discipline process, recruitment process, as well as policies related to providing a safe work environment.

Classification and Compensation - Every year we review specific class series, based on a five-year calendar, to determine significant changes in job duties and to update classification specifications. 

Performance Appraisal System - The annual review period for the Performance Appraisal System is July 1 to June 30. The Performance Appraisal System provides employees the opportunity to earn a base pay increase and/or lump sum bonus pay in recognition of the employee's performance during the respective review period.
