The Irvine Police Department (IPD) arrested 18-year-old Eric Quintanilla of Irvine following a robbery and stabbing during a drug deal at an Irvine Park.
On February 4, just after 1 p.m., the adult victim reported to the Santa Ana Police Department that he was stabbed at Orchard Park in the City of Irvine. Responding officers and detectives from the Irvine Police Department learned the victim was attempting to sell fentanyl pills to Quintanilla when the robbery occurred. The victim arranged to meet Quintanilla at the park and the two were seated in the victim’s vehicle. Quintanilla reportedly demanded the fentanyl pills without payment. When the victim refused, an altercation occurred and the victim was stabbed in the neck several times. Quintanilla fled the scene on foot and the victim returned to Santa Ana where he sought treatment by paramedics. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.
On February 5, Irvine Detectives located Quintanilla at his residence in Irvine and took him into custody. He was booked at Orange County Jail and is being held without bail. The victim is potentially facing charges related to drug sales. Witnesses should contact Irvine PD Detective Mahmood at mmahmood@cityofirvine.org.
