IRVINE, CA (October 5, 2015): City of Irvine Senior Services is seeking volunteers to help package and deliver hot, nutritious meals to frail and homebound senior citizens in the Irvine community. Volunteers work directly with the Irvine Meals on Wheels program and provide a vital service to older adults who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. Current volunteer openings include drivers and meal packers.
Volunteer packers assist with packaging hot and cold meal trays and are needed on Fridays from 8-10 a.m. Packers are required to show proof of a negative tuberculosis test taken within the past 12 months and register as a volunteer with Irvine Senior Services.
Volunteer drivers are asked to commit one to four hours per month between the hours of 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Drivers are required to show proof of valid California Driver’s License, proof of current auto insurance, receive a criminal background check, and register as a volunteer with Irvine Senior Services.
