A Gun Violence Restraining order (GVRO) is a court order that:
- Prohibits the restrained party from possessing a gun, ammunition, or magazines
- Prohibits the retrained party from buying a gun, ammunition, or magazines
- Requires the restrained party to surrender any guns, ammunition, and magazines to the police; sell them to or store them with a licensed gun dealer
If you are concerned someone close to you may use a gun to hurt themselves or another person, you can ask for a GVRO.
