The City of Irvine will hold a Special Municipal Election Tuesday, April 15, for a Councilmember to represent District 5.
At its December 10, 2024, meeting, the City Council called for a Special Municipal Election to fill a vacancy created with the November 2024 election. The open seat is for a term that ends in December 2026.
All registered voters in District 5 will receive a combined voter information guide and a vote-by-mail ballot beginning the week of March 17.
All eligible residents in District 5 who are not registered to vote are encouraged to register by March 31. Registration can be completed online at ocvote.gov or by mail. Voter registration forms are available at the Irvine Civic Center, in local libraries and post offices, and City of Irvine community centers.
Ballots can be mailed or brought to one of the following Ballot Drop Boxes beginning March 17:
- Rancho Senior Center, 3 Ethel Coplen Way
- University Park Branch Library, 4512 Sandburg Way
A Vote Center will be available at Irvine City Hall, 1 Civic Center Plaza, beginning April 5, with a second Vote Center opening April 12 at University Community Center, 1 Beech Tree.
Vote Center Hours are:
- April 5–11: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. (Irvine City Hall only)
- April 12–14: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. (both locations)
- April 15: 7 a.m.–8 p.m. (both locations)
