- Review the Site Plan/Floor Plan Guidance (below) while preparing your documents and drawings
- Your Homeowners Association may have its own approval process. Review your HOA policies and procedures before proceeding with your design plans
- Structural calculations may be required depending on the battery installation location

- After you have completed and gathered all of the required documents, you will need to submit your permit application and plans electronically through the Automated Online Permit System
- You can only obtain these permits online if you meet the criteria stated. Upon acceptance of your online application you will be emailed your permit along with any pertinent bulletins

- The City of Irvine offers an automated permitting process for 20 tons or less roof top packaged mechanical equipment change out (heat pumps units only)
- Screening shall be required for any rooftop or ground-mounted mechanical equipment. See Zoning Guidance below.
- After you have completed and gathered all of the required documents, you will need to submit your permit through the Automated Online Permit System.
If You Are Replacing An Existing Air Conditioning Unit

- Air conditioning units must be set back a minimum two (2) feet from the nearest property line
- If an A/C unit is proposed in a location visible from the public right-of-way or nearby properties at the same grade (such as a front yard or rooftop), screening will be required
