Learn everything you need to know about sustainable home gardening practices. Workshop will be conducted online by the UCCE Master Gardeners of Orange County. 

On February 20, explore what is possible to grow around your own home. This class will inspire you to grow fresh food, herbal remedies, teas, and treats. 

Workshop is free, but registration is required and space is limited. Ages 12+. Sign up at yourirvine.org (registration opens November 15).

On January 23, build your gardening confidence with hands-on instruction on the proper pruning of annual fruit trees and tropical trees. Class will be presented virtually, and a link will be provided after registration.

On January 9, discuss ways to create a healthy and resilient community. Participants will leave with a few perennial edible plants to grow at home to start strengthening the local food network. 

Explore our unique agricultural outdoor classroom and learn inspiring ways to create, grow, and interact in the Farm + Food Lab. 

On February 21, learn more about sucrose and the important role it plays in our health, along with the other compounds in plants that make life so sweet. Attendees receive super sweet beet seedlings to plant at home.

The City of Irvine, in partnership with Waste Management, is hosting a free paper shredding event on Saturday, July 17 at the Lakeview Senior Center. Irvine residents can safely and securely dispose of up to five banker-size file boxes (dimensions 24 inches x 12 inches) at a mobile shredding unit on-site. Event is first come, first served and will end when truck capacity is reached.

Please bring your unwanted or expired prescription drugs to the collection sites to eliminate the potential for misuse, abuse or accidental poisoning.

Improper disposal can be hazardous to public safety, public health and the environment.
