Santa is busy getting ready for the holidays and would love to hear from his friends in Irvine.
Heritage and Turtle Rock Community Parks will be accepting and sorting Santa's mail this holiday season. All letters will receive responses, which can be picked up where the letter was dropped off. Allow one week for resposnes; classrooms, allow two weeks. A drop-off and pick-up box will be located at both parks.

The City of Irvine Animal Care Center will host its 11th annual Home for the Holidays pet adoption fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 10. More than 30 pet rescue groups and animal shelters will bring about 600 homeless dogs, cats, rabbits and small animals for adoption.
The annual event features dozens of pet-related vendors, gourmet food trucks, a silent auction, low-cost microchipping and an opportunity drawing. Each animal available for adoption is spayed or neutered, microchipped and evaluated by a veterinarian. Cats and dogs are vaccinated appropriate to age.
Help support the families of Irvine's adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion by donating slightly worn formal gowns for its annual USMC Birthday Ball event. Marine families are seeking donations of formal gowns and jewelry.
Donations are accepted now through Friday, Oct. 6, and can be dropped off at: Irvine Civic Center, Community Services (2nd Floor).
