The Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial was dedicated in 2010 as the first permanent memorial to honor every American fallen service member in Afghanistan and Iraq for their sacrifice in service to our country. The groundbreaking expansion project will include the extension of the plaza to include an additional pedestal with history of the Memorial and two benches.

The City of Irvine Animal Care Center will host its 11th annual Super Pet Adoption event on Sunday, June 4 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. More than 40 pet rescue groups and animal shelters will bring some 600 homeless dogs, cats, rabbits and small animals for adoption. Click here for more information.

The City of Irvine will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden. Attendees will have the opportunity to memorialize our troop’s sacrifice by writing down a brief remembrance to be posted on a memory board at the event. Cards will also be available for well-wishers to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion.

Memorial Day is a time of remembrance for Americans to honor those who have given their lives while defending our nation. In partnership with the Northwood Memorial Committee, a special Dedication Ceremony of the expansion of the Memorial will be held at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial. Program will include presentations by Gold Star families. Please bring a lawn chair or blankets for seating.
