Effective January 1, 2022, all California residences and businesses are required to separate organic waste from other trash and non-organic recyclables and participate in an organic waste collection program. For more information on the legislation, visit the Irvine SB 1383 webpage.

In addition, food service businesses must donate surplus edible food to food recovery organizations.

Orange County United Way and the City of Irvine have partnered with Procurri and Ingram Micro to host an e-waste drop off recycling event on March 11, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Irvine Valley College located at 5500 Irvine Center Drive.

Accepted items at the event include: computers, peripherals, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, telephones, LCD monitors, printers, scanners, projectors, hard drives, stereo equipment, shredders, radios, LCD/flatscreen TVs.
