National Park & Recreation Month Passport Challenge

Your Passport to City of Irvine Parks is here!

Join the Park & Recreation Month Challenge and dive into summer fun. You’re invited to explore, play, and connect at our award-winning parks and facilities through various activities all month long, July 1–31. Each challenge is a chance to try something new, get active, and discover what makes the City of Irvine park system the second best in the country.

Ready to Play?

Get a Passport

Pick up a passport at participating community centers. Your passport contains challenges to complete at select parks and community centers. Passports at participating locations are first-come, first-served. A printable version is available to download.

Collect Stamps

Collect as many stamps as you can by completing passport challenges. Once you complete an activity, find a community center staff member to receive a stamp in your passport. Hours vary by location — please call ahead or visit cityofirvine.org/parks for more information. 

Win Prizes

Visit Irvine City Hall to receive the following prizes:

  • Collect 6 stamps: Earn a 2025 Park & Recreation Month Sticker Sheet
  • Collect 12 stamps: Earn an exclusive 2025 Park & Recreation Month Water Bottle

Participating Locations

Cypress Community Park

  • Bike, walk, skate, or run down the Jeffery Open Space Trail or
  • Climb the bendy rock wall

Deerfield Community Park

  • Play nine holes of disc golf or
  • Enjoy a picnic

Great Park

  • Discover the arts at the Great Park Gallery or
  • Enjoy a spin on the Carousel

Heritage Community Park

  • Soak up the fun at the Splash Pad or
  • Take a selfie at the Gazebo

Las Lomas Community Park

  • Snap a view from the Sepulveda Vista Lookout Point or
  • Kick a goal on the soccer field

Northwood Community Park

  • Discover your inner knight at the Castle Playground or
  • Play a game of rock-paper-scissors on the big, yellow bridge

Portola Springs Community Park

  • Lean about the Acjachemen people on the Tomato Springs Trail or
  • Climb through the log tunnel at the Portola Springs Playground

Quail Hill Community Park

  • Go for a hike beginning at the Quail Hill Trailhead or
  • Take a selfie with our resident king snake

Sweetshade Neighborhood Park

  • Celebrate fun at the universal playground or 
  • Make a basket on the basketball court

Turtle Rock Community Park

  • Explore the Nature Center or
  • Play a round of tennis

University Community Park

  • Get messy at Adventure Playground or
  • Play a game of pickleball

Woodbury Community Park

  • Be a rock climber on the natural rock playground climbing surfaces or
  • Play a game of catch on the baseball field

BONUS: Bommer Canyon Preserve

  • Take a hike at Bommer Canyon during the Wilderness Access Day July 19

BONUS: Heritage Community Park

  • Stop by a Pop-up Library event held Sundays, 1–4 p.m. at the Heritage Community Park Middle School Program Office
