Allergan, whose presence in Irvine predates the City, in late 2016 released a study through the Orange County Business Council on its economic impact in California. State operations create an estimated $6.35 billion in annual economic activity and $3.45 billion in economic impact. Irvine is the hub of Orange County economic activity, accounting for 49 of the top 100 publicly traded companies with headquarters in Orange County. Notably, those 49 Irvine companies comprise 86% of the total market valuation of the top 100. (Orange County Business Journal, 2015)
- Irvine is No. 2 among Orange County cities in the Orange County Business Council’s Workforce Housing Scorecard, 2010-2020, referencing the type of housing to be developed in Orange County in this decade.
