City of Irvine to Host June 14 Town Hall on Proposed Oak Park Planning Area

Friday, June 6, 2025

The City of Irvine will hold a Town Hall meeting Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Irvine City Hall to gather community input on a proposed General Plan amendment that would allow for the potential development of a new residential village at Oak Creek Golf Course.

The proposed amendment, submitted by Irvine Company, would establish a new Oak Park Planning Area (Planning Area 52). If approved, it would allow for the establishment of a village featuring 3,100 homes, an elementary school, a community park, neighborhood parks, and associated transportation and infrastructure improvements.

As proposed, the Oak Park Planning Area would be located between Jeffrey Road to the west, Interstate 5 to the north, Valley Oak and Oak Canyon to the east, and Irvine Center Drive to the south.

On May 13, the City Council held a public meeting and approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Irvine Company and the City that outlines a framework for planning the project area and identifies the following potential community benefits:

  • Affordable housing through the Irvine Cares program
  • Community benefit fees
  • Transit investments
  • Expansion of open space areas
  • Library funding
  • Dedication of the Oak Creek Clubhouse for City/public use
  • An Innovation Center lease

On May 27, the City Council held the first public scoping session to gather community input and provide direction to staff. City staff will be present at the Town Hall to listen to comments, and all communications will be provided to the City Council as part of an upcoming scoping session June 24.

Comments can be provided in person at the meeting, via email, or through written correspondence. The Town Hall can also be viewed live on ICTV Cox Channel 30 and at youtube.com/ictv30.

The Oak Park Planning Area is in the early stages of public participation. Formal public hearings are expected to take place in approximately 12 to 16 months.
