City of Irvine Hosts Inaugural Fourth of July Celebration at the Great Park

Friday, June 20, 2025

The City of Irvine is hosting a free, family-friendly Fourth of July Celebration at the Great Park — a chance to connect as a community and create lasting memories with friends and family. Taking place Friday, July 4, from 4 to 10 p.m., the inaugural event features a community parade, live entertainment, hands-on activities, and dazzling nighttime drone and fireworks shows.

The celebration kicks off at 4 p.m. with live music in Hangar 244, followed by a community parade at 5 p.m. along the Great Park Historical Timeline, where families are invited to bike, roll, or scoot in patriotic style. Participants are encouraged to decorate their wheels for the parade, whether they are riding a bike, scooter, or skateboard, pushing a stroller, or pulling a wagon.

Throughout the day, families can enjoy lawn games such as Bocce, Jenga, Tetris, and Chess; participate in organized family challenges, including a water balloon toss and hula hoop endurance; and take part in exciting tournament play.

Additional activities and attractions include Carousel and Balloon rides, a Bubble Zone, inflatable obstacle courses at The Layover, craft tents, a cake walk, face painting, sand volleyball competitions, and more.

Inside Hangar 244, guests can enjoy live music, a dance floor, and a silent DJ broadcasting to wireless headphones.

The celebration culminates with a high-tech drone show choreographed to music at 8:45 p.m. and an extravagant aerial fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.

Food and drinks can be purchased at food trucks and local food booths throughout the day, as well as at The Layover. Bring lawn chairs and a blanket for this communitywide celebration.

Admission and parking are free. Attendees are encouraged to ride-share, carpool, walk, or bike to the event.
