After a national recruitment, seasoned City of Irvine engineer Jaimee Bourgeois has been named Director of Public Works & Transportation for the City of Irvine.
Bourgeois has served as Irvine’s Interim Director of Public Works & Transportation since March of this year. Before this, she served as Deputy Director of Transportation for the City starting in December 2019, Interim Director of Transportation from June 2019 to December 2019, and as City Traffic Engineer beginning in November 2016. She is a licensed Civil Engineer and Traffic Engineer in the State of California.
“In her time as Interim Director of Public Works & Transportation, Jaimee has been a true inspiration for her team and City staff,” said City Manager Oliver C. Chi. “She is an innovative leader with demonstrated experience and passion. I know she will serve her department and our community with the core values of the City: humility, innovation, empathy, passion, and integrity.”
In her Director role, Bourgeois will oversee the Irvine Public Works and Transportation Department with more than 169 full-time employees and an annual operating budget of $95 million. The department is entrusted with developing, building and maintaining public infrastructure and facilities, developing and implementing citywide sustainability policies, and serving as the staff liaison to the Transportation Commission.
Bourgeois holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, as well as a Master of Science civil engineering degree with a focus on transportation, from University of California, Davis. She has 23 years of experience in both the public and private sectors.
