The City of Irvine continues to pursue innovative ways to support residents as we work toward making Irvine a truly climate-smart City for the future. As part of the City’s ongoing climate action efforts, a free community electric lawn and garden equipment demonstration was hosted in May.
The City partnered with South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) to showcase electric lawn and gardening equipment in action, share the benefits of transitioning from gasoline equipment, and let guests try out the lawn tools themselves for a hands-on learning experience.
Transitioning from gasoline to electric lawn equipment benefits air quality and resident health, decreases neighborhood noise, and saves households money. Irvine community members are encouraged to explore making this change to support our climate for generations to come.
Additionally, the City is partnering with SCAQMD to offer a boosted electric lawn and garden equipment rebate program for Irvine residents. The rebate program is expected to launch in late summer.
