Help Shape the Future of Heritage Community Park

Tuesday, July 22, 2025

The City of Irvine invites the community to help shape the future of Heritage Community Park by participating in a series of workshops beginning this month.

The first workshop will take place Monday, July 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Heritage Community Park, offering a unique opportunity to explore the park during a walking tour and interactive discussion. Participants will join facilitated group tours to learn about existing programs and services and share ideas and feedback to help guide future priorities for the park.

The walking tour will begin in the area between the lake, Irvine Fine Arts Center, and Heritage Park Community Center.

An alternative stationary tour will also be available to ensure the workshop is inclusive and accessible to all. Large print maps and photographs will be provided for participants in this work group.

To sign up for the workshop series, please visit the City website.

The 44-acre Heritage Community Park is one of Irvine’s first community parks. Open since 1978, it is home to the Irvine Fine Arts Center, Heritage Park Library Branch, William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, a community center, and a broad range of recreational facilities. It plays a vital role in community programming with a comprehensive lineup of classes and camps and the largest youth enrollment annually of any Irvine park.

With community needs continuing to evolve, the City is beginning an update of the Heritage Community Park Master Plan, reassessing the site, and developing a refreshed vision for the park that will better serve the community.

Additional workshops will be held Thursday, August 21, and Thursday, September 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Community Center multipurpose room. Each workshop will build off the previous session; residents are strongly encouraged to attend all three. All ages and abilities are welcome.

This project is a collaborative effort between the Community & Library Services Department and the Office of Health & Wellness.

Heritage Community Park is located at 14301 Yale Ave. Sign up and view additional information about the workshops. To view the master plan, visit cityofirvine.org/heritageparkplan.
