IRVINE, Calif. (May 11, 2016): A statewide Presidential Primary Election will be held Tuesday, June 7 to nominate or elect candidates to various Federal, State and County offices.
In an ongoing effort to promote voter registration and participation, the City of Irvine encourages all eligible residents to register and vote. The registration deadline for the June 7 election is May 23. Registration cards are available at all Irvine community centers and the Civic Center. Eligible residents 18 years and older can also register to vote online by visiting registertovote.ca.gov.
If you registered as a “No Party Preference” voter, you will have three choices when voting in the June 7, 2016, Presidential Primary Election:
- Do nothing and receive a nonpartisan ballot, which does not contain president or county central committee contests.
- Request a Democratic, Libertarian or American Independent ballot. Please note that the Republican Party has chosen to keep its primary closed; only registered Republicans can vote.
- Re-register if you prefer to receive a Republican, Green or Peace and Freedom ballot prior to the May 23, 2016, registration deadline.
