Irvine has one of the nation’s most interconnected and well-maintained bicycle systems. Whether you bike to work; ride to save money or time; pump those pedals to preserve your health or the environment; or simply to explore your community, National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons we ride.
OCTA is celebrating National Bike Month with the following programs:
Pledge & Win
Pledge to bike to work at least once during May. All pledges receive a coupon to Jax Bicycle and 1 entry for a chance to win a Trek 2 bike or Fitbit Charge 2 (estimated values $539.99 and $149.95 respectively).
OCTA Bike Rally
May 16 - 7:30-10:00 a.m.
Want to join in on the celebration? OCTA is hosting their annual Bike Rally on May 16 and would love for you to attend. After a 3-mile ride, there will have snacks, a raffle, and some guest speakers.
Track Your Miles
Join OCTA’s Strava Club to track how many miles you’ve ridden during the month and see how others are celebrating Bike Month.
Irvine Shares the Way
Irvine Shares the Way is a project to improve the safety of everyone in Irvine, whether they are walking, bicycling, or driving. Irvine Shares the Way is a broad-based campaign, including educational materials, safety workshops, and other activities across the City of Irvine. The campaign will help raise awareness of traffic laws and remind residents how they can reduce the chances of a collision when they are walking, bicycling, and driving.
Throughout 2019 and beyond, the City of Irvine will roll out new materials and features on our website and host workshops, family-friendly events, and more! Stay informed of news and events; sign up for our email list at sharestheway@cityofirvine.org.
