Building Safety Month was established by the International Code Council (ICC) to raise awareness about both the importance of safe buildings, as well as the role of the new building codes in ensuring their ability to improve public health, provide protection from natural disasters, and prevent property damage.
The ICC designated theme for the 2024 campaign is Mission Possible, which encourages all City stakeholders to become building safety experts and to advocate for building safety in our community.
The City of Irvine Building and Safety division is committed to promoting the development of safe, accessible, and sustainable facilities for the benefit of the community. This year, it joins ICC with its 64,000 members, governments, professionals, and corporations to promote building safety where all of us live, work, and play.
Mission Possible
The topics for each week of Building Safety Month are:
- Week One: Understanding the Mission
- Week Two: Preparing a Building Safety Plan
- Week Three: Learning from the Pros
- Week Four: Engaging the Community
- Week Five: Celebrating Success in Building and Safety
