Preference for Vets is Built into Affordable Housing Project

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

IRVINE, CA (February 25, 2015):  Preference for veterans is part of this month’s City Council approval of an 80-unit permanently affordable rental housing project at 17275 Derian in the Irvine Business Complex.

City Council approval of the project meets the City’s affordable housing inclusionary requirement while including a preference for veterans.

The agreement with developer Lennar Central Park LLC, satisfies both the City Council’s goal of providing 10 percent of the City’s housing stock as affordable by build-out as well as addressing the principles that the newly formed Veterans Affordable Housing Committee is reviewing. The Committee meets once a month to develop recommendations to the City Council for affordable housing options for veterans.

The Derian affordable housing project could be underway by December 2017. C&C Development is the managing partner.
