Irvine, CA (Jan. 8, 2016): The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested two suspects for committing a residential burglary in Irvine. The suspects are identified as Dominque William Malone, 20, of Lancaster, and Jermaine Edward Toomer, 29, of Los Angeles. A third adult male, age 21 of Los Angeles, is being investigated in this case.
At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2016, a resident heard a loud noise coming from a neighbor’s home. The reporting party knew that the neighbor was not home and called 911 to report a burglary in progress. The caller provided a description of vehicles parked in front of the home.
Responding IPD officers observed and began to follow the suspect vehicle leaving the neighborhood. The suspects drove evasively and failed to yield to pursing officers while entering onto the northbound Interstate 405, traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour.
At MacArthur Boulevard, the suspects exited the freeway and got out of their vehicle while it was still running, fleeing on foot. Their white sport utility vehicle continued moving and crashed into a light pole.
Malone and Toomer attempted to hide in the area and were quickly located and arrested. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department helicopter provided assistance.
The third suspect jumped a fence onto a freeway overpass and sustained numerous broken bones. He was transported to an area hospital.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact IPD Detective Justin Brouwer at 949-724-7124.
