Irvine Mayor Steven S. Choi, Ph.D., Delivers his Fourth State of the City Address

IRVINE, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2016):  Mayor Steven S. Choi, Ph.D., tonight delivered his fourth State of the City Address. Topics included 688 acres at the Orange County Great Park that are being developed as parkland, including the 175-acre Sports Park in a public-private agreement; the strong financial position of the City of Irvine; a robust business economy; a newly formed tech advisory group; and renewed City Council direct financial support of Irvine public schools.

“We focus special attention on ensuring that Irvine’s high quality of life is not only enjoyed by today’s residents, but is guaranteed for generations to come,” he told a capacity crowd in the Council Chamber. “I believe the best legacy a Mayor can give a city is the inspiration, the resources and the foundation to meet the challenges of the future.”

Mayor Choi also spoke to partnerships with agencies such as the Irvine Ranch Water District and Orange County Fire Authority; the City’s reputation as one of the nation’s safest communities; an upcoming citywide traffic management study; and Irvine’s diverse population that is reflected in special events held each year.
