Six Suspects Arrested Following Alert Officer Observation
Irvine, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested six suspects on various charges including possession of drugs, probation and parole violations, and knowingly riding in a stolen vehicle. The suspects are identified as Shane Clarke, 26, of Tustin; Samantha Diehr, 26, of Irvine; Cameron Dimmick, 32, of Huntington Beach; Benjamin Nishie, 23, of Costa Mesa; Adam Quick, 31, of Huntington Beach; and Nouras Sairafe, 30, Long Beach.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., two IPD officers were patrolling the area of Von Karman Avenue and Barranca Parkway when they observed six subjects standing around a raised truck with paper plates in the shopping center parking lot. When one of the suspects, Dimmick, observed the marked patrol car in the parking lot, he ran away and fled the scene wearing a backpack. While the two officers called for additional officers to assist, the five other suspects dispersed in different directions through the large parking lot. Back-up officers responded and parked in various areas of the lot to create a perimeter. A check of the truck’s vehicle identification number revealed that it had been stolen the previous day in Costa Mesa.
Within minutes, the original responding officers observed two of the suspects, Quick and Sairafe, attempting to drive out of the parking lot in an Acura. The vehicle was stopped and it was determined that Quick is on probation and Sairafe is on parole. Heroin and a bag of syringes were located in the car. Simultaneously, employees in a nearby furniture store called 911 to report that Dimmick had run into the store and was hiding in the bathroom. They also reported that he had thrown his backpack in the dumpster outside. IPD officers contacted Dimmick and located his backpack, which contained heroin and narcotics paraphernalia.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., officers observed Nishie, whom they recognized as one of the subjects near the truck, at the far end of the parking lot attempting to walk away. He was contacted and found to be in possession of methamphetamine. At approximately 5:15 p.m., officers observed the final two outstanding suspects, Diehr and Clarke, walking on Barranca Parkway. Clarke was identified as the driver and Diehr had been a passenger in the truck, which they knew was stolen.
All six suspects were located within 45 minutes of the initial incident. They were all arrested without incident.
