Man Arrested for Forgery and Using Stolen Credit Card

Irvine, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) arrested a man for fraudulently using a victim’s stolen credit card. Suspect Nicholas Bryson, 20, of Irvine, was arrested on charges including forgery, false personation of another, presenting a false identification to an officer, commercial burglary, and using another’s access card.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on June 2, 2016, the occupants of an Irvine home awoke and discovered that their residence had been burglarized while they were sleeping. Among the stolen items were laptops, electronics, and debit and credit cards. The victims checked their online banking statement and discovered that one of the credit cards had recently been used at multiple locations in a shopping center at Barranca Parkway and Culver Drive.

The victims drove to the area and located Bryson, whom they did not know but found in possession of their stolen property. The victims then called IPD, who responded to the scene.

When contacted by IPD, Bryson provided a false name to officers. During the investigation, officers determined that the suspect had used the victim’s stolen credit card and forged a name on a receipt to make fraudulent purchases.

Bryson was arrested at approximately 1:50 p.m. without incident.
