IPD Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision
Irvine, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2017) -- The Irvine Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Saturday, January 14 at the intersection of Lake Forest and Romano in Irvine.
Police responded to Hoag hospital in Irvine around 5:15 p.m. Saturday after hospital officials reported that a 4-year-old boy was brought in with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators learned that the child was crossing the street at the intersection of Lake Forest and Romano with his scooter when he was struck by a vehicle traveling on Lake Forest. The driver and the boy's parents, who were present at the time of the collision, transported the boy to Hoag.
The child was transported to Children's Hospital of Orange County, where he succumbed to his injuries.
