The suspect in an Anaheim Police Department officer involved shooting Tuesday night has been identified as Kenneth John Yamashita-Magarro, 24. Magarro has two no-bail felony warrants in Orange County for drug-related crimes and is on formal probation.
On Tuesday at around 10 p.m., an Anaheim Police Department helicopter was following a black Nissan Altima that was driving erratically and in excess of 100 miles per hour on I-405. The helicopter requested units to respond. Prior to those units arriving, the vehicle crashed on I-405 at Jamboree, near the Von Karman overpass. The suspect fled the vehicle and was located shortly thereafter in the area of Von Karman and Quartz.
At 10:20 p.m., the suspect was shot by the Anaheim Police Department. Responding officers from the Fountain Valley Police Department and the Irvine Police Department were at the scene when the shooting occurred. The California Highway Patrol also responded to assist. No weapons were located at the scene of the shooting.
Magarro remains in critical but stable condition at an area hospital.
