Spoil Mom with Mother’s Day Events in the City of Irvine

The City of Irvine is celebrating moms with a variety of events this Mother’s Day season: spoil her with dessert and a painting lesson, take children’s art classes together, explore the Irvine Open Space Preserve during a morning hike, or learn tennis as a family.

Mother’s Day Dessert & Paint Night
Enjoy dessert and take a step-by-step painting class at the Orange County Great Park. Kids 5+ can bring Mom on Saturday, May 12, or Sunday, May 13, 3-5 p.m.; children 12+ can join the fun Saturday, May 12, 7-9 p.m. $44 per person. Registration required at yourirvine.org by Thursday, May 10. The Great Park is at 6950 Marine Way, Irvine.

Family Art Classes
Celebrate Mother’s Day with children’s art classes that moms, aunts, grandparents and other loved ones can take with their little one. Registration required at yourirvine.org.

  • Toddler Keepsakes: Mother’s Day: Create a unique craft using glue, glitter and paint. Friday, May 11, 9:30 a.m., at Turtle Rock Community Center, 1 Sunnyhill in Irvine. Ages 3-5. $11.
  • Family Art Time: Experiment with drawing, painting, clay, printmaking and more. Saturdays, May 12, 10-11:30 a.m., at Irvine Fine Arts Center, 14321 Yale Ave. Ages 5+. $9 per person.
  • Parent & Me: Create, Paint & Play: Create art alongside your little artist. Saturday, May 12, 10-11 a.m., at Quail Hill Community Center, 39 Shady Canyon Drive, Irvine. Ages 3+. $10.

Wilderness Access Day: Bommer Canyon
If your mom loves the outdoors, bring her to Wilderness Access Day in Bommer Canyon on Saturday, May 19. Designated trails are open for self-guided access 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The Bommer Canyon trailhead is at 6400 Shady Canyon Drive. All ages. More info: letsgooutside.org/iosp.

Mommy, Daddy & Me Tennis
Play and learn tennis with your kids at Las Lomas Community Park or Orange County Great Park. Saturdays, May 5-19, 9-10 a.m. Ages 3-6. $45. Registration required at yourirvine.org.
