SCE Restores Power to Irvine Residents

As of 4:14 a.m., all Irvine customers who lost power in an outage Friday evening have had power restored, Southern California Edison reports.

City of Irvine facilities that are open today will continue to serve as designated cooling and cellphone charging centers. A detailed list of locations and hours is available here.

Southern California Edison reminds customers to continue to conserve energy. Energy-saving tips are available at sce.com.

The Irvine Police Department and City of Irvine continue to monitor the areas that were impacted by the outage. All traffic signals in the City have had power restored, though a few remained on red flash Sunday morning as power was restored.

“I am happy to hear that our Irvine residents have had power restored. I want to thank our City staff for their hard work and dedication in responding to this incident,” said Irvine Mayor Christina Shea.

The outage began Friday at 6:18 p.m. as a result of an electrical fire at a substation at Jamboree and Michelson.

If you need assistance as a result of the power outage, call the Irvine Police Department at 949-724-7000. For more information, go to sce.com.
