The Irvine Animal Care Center is inviting all runners, walkers, and animal-lovers to take part in its 2021 Virtual 5K throughout the month of April to support animals in need. The center’s Virtual 5K can be completed at any location you choose April 1–30, can be done at your own pace, and is timed yourself.
In addition to supporting animals, participants can honor the City of Irvine's 50th anniversary while running or walking their 5K. Special “5K + 50” bonus activities will be announced through social media during April, giving participants the chance to share what they love about Irvine and the Irvine Animal Care Center.
The Virtual 5K is an ideal way to support animals in need. Log your 5K in walks around the neighborhood with your household members, or while running on the treadmill in your own living room. You can help the center’s animals, and stay healthy and active yourself, while still practicing social distancing!
Just submit your entry fee of $35 at irvineanimals.org/5k, complete your race by April 30, and receive an exclusive race medal and certificate. Enter your four-legged friend to run with you in the Virtual 5K for an additional $8, and they will also receive their very own medal for completing the race. Proceeds go toward special programs at the Irvine Animal Care Center, which offers services including pet adoptions and licensing for Irvine residents.
Registration is now open; visit irvineanimals.org/5k for more information and to submit your entry fee. For questions, call the Irvine Animal Care Center at 949-724-7740.
